BoingHosting Migration

REASON :: EMAIL :: LOGINS :: FILES :: NAMESERVERS :: MIGRATION :: FUTURE :: PLANS

REASON:
As we have mentioned earlier last month we had been having problems with the responsiveness of our previous Datacentre, this came to a head last month with their lack of response to several hardware issues and the subsequent downtime that ensued. We have tried to work with the DC to resolve our concerns.

After ~4 yrs the quality of service has reached levels that required us to migrate elsewhere.

We have migrated all sites from our old servers to our new servers. There are a few lingering issues that will be resolved this week.
If you have any isues with your website please email us immediately so we can help to resolve them.

EMAIL:
Firstly email, some email kept being delivered to the old servers despite all the necessary settings being changed and the accounts setup on the new server.

This necessitates the collection of email from BOTH servers until the end of this week to ensure ALL email is collected. This is the safest way. We have found no other solution that will ensure you do not lose any email.

OLD SERVER details:
To collect email from your old mail server and your new email server you need to make a few adustments in your email software.

NS0.BOING.NET
If you were on ns0.boing.net previously please use 66.227.24.81 as your server setting instead of mail.yourdomainname.com

NS2.BOING.NET
If you were on ns2.boing.net previosuly please use 66.227.32.209 as your server setting instead of mail.yourdomainname.com

NS6.BOING.NET
If you were on ns6.boing.net previosuly please use 66.227.26.49 as your server setting instead of mail.yourdomainname.com

NEW SERVER details:
To collect email from the new server please use 67.15.0.39 as you server setting instead of mail.yourdomainname.com

LOGINS:
All your logins should be the same as they were previously. If you have any issues with squirrelmail please let us know asap.

FILES / DATABASES / PATHS:
We have made every effort to ensure all files and databases are accurate and there is no data discrepancy as a result of the migration. Please check your website functions correctly and let us know if you encouter any problems.
If you have files that reference the location of other files outside the webtree please check your path.
This path may have changed as a result of the migration.
e.g. if you had a site that pointed to a file located at /home/virtual/site1/fst/home/someuser/mainwebsite_html/filename
please adjust this as the site number may have changed, adjust as follows
/home/virtual/yourdomain.com/home/someuser/mainwebsite_html/filename

NAMESERVERS:

THe new nameservers for US based hosting are as follows:
ns0.boing.com.au 67.15.0.39
ns1.boing.com.au 67.15.1.21

THe new nameservers for AU based hosting are as follows:
ns2.boing.com.au 202.60.73.161
ns3.boing.com.au 202.60.73.162

We have migrated all sites registered through us that we have domain management access to.
If you registered your domain name externally please ensure your domain is redelegated to these nameservers to improve the speed of migration.
All previous nameservers have also been redelegated to our new IPs but may take an additional few days to propagate.

MIGRATION:
As a result of this migration we are now able to offer US and AU based hosting services. The US based hosting is where your site has been migrated to as you were previously hosted in the US.

The price for our US based hosting plans are the same low cost as before.

Our US servers are now located in a Texas Datacentre that services 25,000+ dedicated servers and as such accounts for 1.5% of all US network traffic. The new servers are of a much higher specifiation and feature a remote reboot port should a fault occur.

Our AU servers are of a even higher specification and located in a Brisbane Datacentre. As bandwidth is costly in AU we have priced our plans competitively for the Australian market and feel they offer extremely good value for money.

All our system administration is now conducted by Linux and Ensim specialists located in three separate timezones.

FUTURE:
In the near future we will be upgrading our billing, helpdesk, tutorials and FAQ software.
Our new billing software will feature automated setup and upgrading of accounts via a friendly online interface.
This means no delays in your requests. We are testing extra functionality to allow real-time domain registration, delegation and setup, this will enhance the level and type of services we can offer.
